This is the fifth announcement of an international astronomy meeting entitled "A Population Explosion: The Nature and Evolution of X-ray Binaries in Diverse Environments", which will take place from 28 October to 2 November in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.  We look forward to seeing you all very soon!  The final version of the schedule is now available for download at our conference website.

If you are arriving *after* the scheduled Registration hours on Monday, conference staff will be available during the scheduled session times at a table outside the lecture room, which is called 'Tarpon Key'.  Please check in with our conference staff there to get your packet and other conference materials.

Information for Presenters

    SPEAKERS:

We would like all speakers whose presentations are in Microsoft Powerpoint for *Windows* or PDF format to upload their presentations to our conference laptop PC *in advance* of the beginning of the session in which you are speaking.  If your presentation is in Powerpoint for *Mac* format, we also plan to have a conference Mac available for use, and we ask that you pre-load your talk onto that machine.  If you are using Mac *Keynote*, you may (1) use your own laptop for your presentation, or (2) provide the file to our IT support person, David Edmeades, the *day before* your talk so that he can try to convert it to Powerpoint.

David will be available throughout the conference sessions to help out with any technical problems with the presentations.  If you can provide him with your presentation one day in advance of your talk, he will be able to check it and ensure that everything works correctly (fonts, symbols, animations, etc).  We therefore *strongly encourage* everyone to provide their presentation files to us as early as they can during the meeting.

We ask those presenters who are speaking on Monday morning to please, if at all possible, to give us your talks on Sunday afternoon/evening during Registration or the reception, so that they will be ready for the first session.

    POSTER PRESENTERS:

The exhibition hall will be open for putting up your posters starting Sunday evening.  We ask that you please try to get your posters up before the 9 AM start of the Monday session.  Please look in the abstract book (or the late poster supplement) for your assigned poster number.

The poster pops that we have received have all been pre-loaded onto our Windows laptop and they all have been checked to make sure there are no problems with the files.

Conference Excursions

The afternoon of Wednesday, 31 October is a free afternoon.  All those who have indicated interest in the boat cruise have had a space reserved for them.  There may be room for 1 or 2 more people; if anyone is interested, please let us know at Registration.  The cruise leaves from a dock on the hotel property, and will depart at approximately 2pm Wednesday for a ~3 hour excursion, weather permitting.  More details about the boat cruise will be provided at the meeting.  Payment should be made directly to the boat company.

Unfortunately there was not sufficient interest in the Dali Museum tour to do an organized excursion.  If you are interested in visiting the Museum, please contact the hotel concierge for information and transportation options.

Refreshments & Banquet Info

The reception, coffee breaks, and banquet are all 'veggie-friendly', and a wide range of main course options will be provided at the banquet to accommodate most dietary restrictions.  If you are a vegetarian or have other dietary restrictions, please remind us of this at Registration, so that we can ensure sufficient quantities of any vegetarian or other special dietary needs options at the banquet.

Guest tickets to the banquet will be available for purchase until Wednesday lunchtime - please enquire at Registration if you are interested.

Proceedings

A LaTeX template, style file, and instructions for the proceedings articles will be available for download from our website by the end of October.  Further details will be provided at the conference.  The deadline for submitting your proceedings will be Monday, 17 December.

Safe travels, and see you all in Florida very soon!
